Fibre Essential offers an average download speed of 50Mbps connection for £15 a month.
London-based full fibre provider G.Network has launched a new broadband deal aimed at those on a lower income.
Titled Fibre Essential, it’ll provide customers with an average download speed of 50Mbps and totally unlimited downloads on a one year contract for just £15 a month. A free home wi-fi router is also included.
Customers will need to be receiving certain levels of Universal Credit, Pension Credit, Employment and Support Allowance, Jobseekers’ Allowance or Income Support in order to qualify.
In order to confirm a customers’ eligibility, G.Network will carry out checks with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).
Those who are no longer in a position to receive Essential Fibre will be migrated over to another one of G.Network’s full fibre deals.
“With the cost of living at the forefront of many Londoners’ minds, Essential Fibre will help thousands of people afford better full fibre broadband,” said G.Network’s CEO Sasho Veselinski.
“We want to help reduce London’s digital divide, and we believe Essential Fibre will be a useful contribution to this.”
Over the last couple of years, Ofcom and the UK government have been encouraging providers to enhance or introduce their own low cost social tariff.
Those who’ve compiled include BT by enhancing their Home Essentials deal as well as Virgin Media and Hyperoptic who both launched their Essential Broadband and Fair Fibre plans last year.
G.Network has already connected up 300,000 premises across the capital to their 10Gbps capable full fibe network. They aim to reach a total of 1.4 million by the end of 2026.
